Join Our Email Discussion Group: Parakletos

Parakletos: (greek) (noun) Called along side to help,

counsel, advise, and advocate.

The Center for Spiritual Formation sponsors a private, but not anonymous, email discussion group under the name Parakletos. If you've not participated in email discussion before, it's an opportunity to pursue discussion at your convenience -- no travel, no specific meeting times, no pressure to do anything but "listen," as you so choose. All list members are expected to respect the dignity of every human person. 

To join Parakletos, you may:

* Send an email here from the email address to be subscribed. No subject matter is required. 

or

* Visit the Parakletos Mailman page and complete the subscription information. This is also where you can adjust your subscription as to individual emails or digest mode; go "no mail" for a while, or terminate your subscription.

If you have any problem with either method, please contact the list manager giving the name and address to be subscribed and a brief description of the problem.

When the list management software receives your request, it will send you an automatic email reply, asking you to confirm that you want to subscribe. Instructions in the post will tell you how to do that. This confirmation step, while bothersome, prevents forgery and having people sign you up against your will.

After moderator approval, you will then get a welcome message from the list affirming that you have been added to the Parakletos mailing list.

This is a closed mailing list--only subscribers can post to the list. It is closed because this decreases the amount of spam, and makes it possible to assure that discussions on the list, while lively, maintain a level of civility and Christian charity that is accord with the purpose of Parakletos.

To post to the Parakletos mailing list, address your message to the list address, and it will go to everyone on the list. If you reply to a message sent to the list, your reply will automatically go to the entire list and not just to the person who sent that message. Do not use the "Reply to All" function, because your reply already goes to everyone. If you do this, they might get two copies. If you want to reply just to the original author, it is best to use the copy and paste features of your computer and paste that person's email address into a new message.
