Please Consider Helping Support the Center

Dear Friends, Participants and Supporters of the Center for Spiritual Formation,

On November 14, 2002 we celebrated the fifth anniversary of the inauguration of the Center for Spiritual Formation. Our initial grant from Trinity Episcopal Church, NY, matched by funds from the Vestry of St. James Church, gave the Center a solid financial beginning.

The Trinity Grant will be expended at the end of this calendar year and we must seek new sources of ongoing financial support. We will pursue additional grants and expect continued support from St. James. But the cost of providing quality programs by outstanding visiting speakers, such as Dr. Gerald May, the Rev. Bob Haden, the Rev. Sandra Casey-Martus and the Rev. Margaret Guenther (Spring 2003) just to name a few, exceeds the funds from these other sources. In order to continue to bring quality programs at registration fees that are affordable for most interested participants, we are turning to those who have benefited from the Center’s presence and ministry—you, our faithful participants and contributors. Now is the time for us to ask each of you to give generously in order to continue the work of the Center.

We ask that you consider making a donation to the St. James Center for Spiritual Formation as the calendar year comes to an end. Your financial support will help ensure the continuation of our programs of prayer, reflection, spiritual discussion and spiritual direction and will allow us to continue to bring in outstanding speakers to teach and preach.

You may make a special contribution to the Center by sending your check, payable to St. James Center for Spiritual Formation, to the Center, c/o St. James Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 126, Baton Rouge LA 70821. Your donation can be a memorial for a loved one or in thanksgiving for special, personal blessings. Please include the names and addresses of those whose lives and witness are being celebrated through your contribution. We also invite your suggestions for future programs.

The Board of Directors of the Center for Spiritual Formation, the Rev. George Kontos, Executive Director, and Dr. Ed Henderson, Director of Programs, join me in giving thanks for God’s Grace through the mission and ministry of the Center and for our mutual commitment to its further development and availability to all those who seek to deepen their awareness of the presence of God in their lives.
